Are you on Goodreads?

GoodreadsAre you on Goodreads?

I discovered the site a couple of years ago, and it helps me with my reading ‘addiction’ – providing me with lots of suggestions and recommendations for books that should be on my to-read list.

I’ve discovered lots of fantastic suggestions thanks to Goodreads, and the fellow readers I follow there. I’m always on the lookout for good books, so connect with me at Goodreads here .

But it’s not only an excellent tool for readers, it’s also a key platform for writers.

The largest site focussed exclusively on books, Goodreads boasts more than 30 million members and more than 13 million books added monthly to members’ want to read shelves. Sounds like a place where any author would want to spend time.

I’ve only published short stories, so I don’t have a Goodreads author page. But there was an interesting article in last months Writer’s Digest that served as a how-to for creating an author page, and explained the benefits for authors to connect with fans, gather advance readers and reviews, offer give-aways, etc.

For those of you with Goodreads author pages, what have your experiences been? Have you found it a good way to connect with your readers and promote your books?

See you over on Goodreads!

Did you know that Amazon bought Goodreads?

No, I didn’t! Guess that’s the end – soon Goodreads will be selling toasters and women’s shoes….

Interesting post about an interesting platform where unfortunately I’ve met mixed results. As an author I have a page. I also used Goodreads to give away copies of my novels for reviews. It has been a disaster for my second novel and I suspect that most people want free books that they sell later on. However I love to visit once in a while and have found great suggestions in terms of books to read. And yes, Amazon bought Goodreads, which could be why it changed. My first novel received more feedback through Goodreads before the company was bought and I don’t think it’s as good as my second. But I’m not very good at promoting my stuff! In any case I’d love to read more feedback from other readers and writers, so I will check your blog, Kimberley.
