A night at the Yerevan opera

This past August, my husband and I were in Yerevan, Armenia as a part of a holiday in the Caucasus.

Since it was August, I was certain the opera house would be closed, but while going to admire the placard of the season’s offerings I would not be able to attend, I was thrilled to see that one evening of opera would coincide with my visit.

I immediately booked tickets to Georges Bizet’s Carmen. My husband opted for a free evening, devoid of opera. His loss! : )

So, so happy I could attend.

Whenever I travel, I try to book opera tickets when I can, and this was my first time attending the opera in Armenia.

The opera house is more modern, and less architecturally impressive, than most European opera houses. But regardless, it was a wonderful performance and always enjoyable to attend opera whenever I’m traveling.

And, of course, an opera isn’t an opera without a glass of Champagne or prosecco during the intermission. Luckily, they didn’t make me order in Armenian. : )

Such wonderful luck to have been able to see a performance during my stay. Greatly enjoyed my evening of opera in Armenia.
