Hanging out in Indianapolis, Indiana

I’ve already written a post about my cross-country driving trip with my younger son last summer from Washington, DC to Kansas.

One of the stops along the way was a city new to both of us. I’ve driven by Indiana’s capital city multiple times, but have never before taken the time to drive in, park the car and explore. But on the day we were driving by, the sky was blue and the sun strong, and my son and I decided to nip in and see the town.

Indianapolis a small but pleasant town, with a picturesque river walk and the headquarters of the NCAA, the collegiate organization that governs college sports.

It was a hot day the Sunday we were there, but it was nice to see people out along the river, with picnic blankets and frisbees, so made it enjoyable to have a wander.

We took a little time to explore the NCAA college hall of fame, learning some interesting trivia about the history of college sports. There were some nice exhibitions, but honestly, with the richa material of decades of college sport, it could have been a much more impressive display.

Still, my son epecially enjoyed seeing some of the history they had there.

Indianapolis is a small but pleasant walking city, fun to explore on a perfect summer day. And a great way to strech our legs on our long, long drive.
