Prague’s Wallenstein Garden

Wallenstein Gardens, Prague, Czech RepublicPrague’s beautiful Wallenstein Garden (Valdštejnská zahrada) has always been one of my favorite hideouts in Rome.

This beautiful Baroque garden, tucked neatly behind a high wall, was created alongside construction of the Wallenstein Palace, built from 1623-1629.

The pavilion, with its impressive views behind it up to the striking Prague Castle, is often the site of concerts in summertime.

Long ago, when I lived in Prague, this used to be a favorite place to stop on a (rare) sunny day, to stop and read, study my difficult Czech or catch up with work.

Back then I worked as a journalist and spent plenty of time scribbling stories in these gardens in those blissful pre-laptop/pre-tablet days. : )

Now it’s fun to just get back to wander around this tranquil little urban retreat right in the center of Prague.

Don’t miss out on the Wallenstein Gardens on your next visit to Prague. For more Prague tips, see my earlier posts on Prague’s Old Town Square clock,  climbing the St Vitus’ bell tower  and taking a paddle boat out on the Vltava.
