Spectacular views from the top of Frankfurt’s Domturm

I’ve been to Frankfurt, Germany numerous times, but during my visit this past March, it was my first time venturing up the cathedral’s belltower – Domturm.

I was with my hyper-fit sprinter/hurdler younger son, who tears up stairs without batting an eye. But, even with this “competition”, I held my own climbing an exhausting 328 steps up to the top of the belltower.

Yes, it was tiring, but well worth it for these spectacular views!

Great views over nearby Roemerplatz – the medieval architecture of the inner city – and the Main River cutting through the city and the pleasant walking space along the river.

And, of course, great views over the skyscrapers of Frankfurt’s financial district.

Always thrilled to enjoy a city from a birds’ eye perspective – even if my calves are screaming afterwards.

We rewarded ourselves immediately after with a visit to an adorable café just across the square.

Definitely make time to climb the exhausting but beaatiful Cathedral tower when you are next in Frankfurt – here’s hoping you enjoy weather as gorgeous as ours during our visit!
