Admiring Conegliano through the vines

Earlier this summer, I was up in Conegliano, Italy – in the Veneto region – with my younger son for a track and filed race he had there.

It was my first time in Coneglaino, a pleasant little town. But its real claim to fame is all the vineyards surrounding the towns in the hills surrounding it. Those hills produce grapes for the famous Prosecco of this region.

We stayed in a nice hotel a few kilometrs outside of town, immersed by all those vines. It was wonderfully picturesque to be able to keep an eye on the development of those grapes – to be harvested in late September/early October for the next Prosecco harvest.

The town itself is pleasant – if tiny. One main street runs through its historical center.

Even after yers of living in Italy, I’m always happy to discover “new” towns, and this was a fun discovery. My son’s track meets have given me plenty of excuses to explore new corners of the Italian boot, and Conegliano was a nice find.

And yes, I did enjoy plenty of glasses of good prosecco during my stay here, and enjoyed the excellent explanations by the knowledgeable sommeliers. All rigorously Kilometer Zero. : )
