Editing, with a view…

Let the editing begin … in Urbino!

At this stage, I’ve published a fair amount. And while I always love the writing process, editing still remains a slog. So, when I can sweeten the pot a bit, it always improves the process.

That’s why I was thrilled to have finished the first draft of my latest novel, May Flowers at The Three Coins Inn, my third in the contemporary women’s fiction Three Coins series, just before I left for a long weekend get-away in beautiful, medieval Urbino.

Honestly, there was so much to see in Urbino, that I didn’t spend a heck of a lot of time editing, BUT  I did sneak away for a short time to find the absolutely perfect spot to kickstart the editing process.

The fortress park has some of the best views from which to admire medieval Urbino. I had been at that same park early the Sunday morning we were there.

After all our sightseeing, by afternoon the sun had broken out, and I decided to go back to squeeze in a little editing time. Am I glad I did!

As a university town, there were lots of students who appeared to have the same idea I did, out studying with these splendid views.

Had I been a student here, I probably would have moved my desk out to that inspiring spot. : )

Having a view like that certainly made editing a lot more fun.

And throughout this editing process, I know my mind will wander back to the beautiful perch from which I began this process, and I’ll be happy I initiated my editing, with a view…
