Gorgeous cover reveal for Laura Morelli’s latest: The Last Masterpiece

My friend Laura Morelli has a new historical novel coming in 2023 called THE LAST MASTERPIECE.

Look at this gorgeous cover! And yes, I admit I do judge books that way … especially if they plan on covering the breathtaking beauty of Florence and its spectacular art.

If you do not yet know Laura’s work, you’re in for a treat. She is an expert in art history who weaves some of the world’s most iconic art (mostly from Italian masters, ovviamente) into novels with absolutely engaging characters and historical storytelling.

As a fellow Italophile, art lover, and devourer of historical fiction, I adore Laura’s writing – and I’m especially excited for her newest.

I will be reading and reviewing closer to launch date, but urge you to take a look at this upcoming release – and check out the free access to the online program that accompanies your pre-order (details below).

Laura Morelli, The Last Masterpiece

ABOUT THE BOOK

In a race across Nazi-occupied Italy, two women—a German photographer and an American stenographer—hunt for priceless masterpieces looted from the Florentine art collections.

In the summer of 1943, Eva Brunner is taking photographs of priceless works of art hidden inside the salt mines of the Austrian hinterland. Across the ocean in Connecticut, Josephine Evans is working as a humble typist at the Yale Art Gallery.

Laura Morelli, The Last MasterpieceWhen both women are called to Italy to contribute to the war effort, neither imagines she will hold the fate of some of the world’s greatest masterpieces in her hands.

But as Italy turns from ally to enemy and Hitler’s plan to destroy irreplaceable monuments and works of art becomes frighteningly clear, each woman’s race against the clock—and against one another—might demand more than they were prepared to give.

Inspired by the incredible true story of the looted Florentine art collections during World War II, The Last Masterpiece takes readers on a heart-pumping adventure up the Italian peninsula, where nothing is as it seems and some of the greatest works of art and human achievement are at stake.
