Dubai’s ‘Venice’
Madinat Jumeirah is the so-called Venice of the Dubai. We were here on our 24-whirlwind race around the Dubai during a short stop-over on a flight to the Maldives.
If you’re in the Dubai, it’s worth getting to Madinat Jumeirah for a short wander.
We stopped here on our quest to see everything of interest in this bustling desert city.
Ummm… Venice it’s definitely not. But it’s amusing to wander the canals.
We ate here, but found the restaurants overpriced and not very impressive. However, it does seem a good place to stop for a drink and to sit back and relax. It certainly made a good reprieve from the brutal heat of the city.
Skip the overpriced abra rides and go on the inexpensive version across the Dubai Creek.
No, we weren’t enamored of the Disney-like environment of Madinat Jumeirah, but it was a good place for a wander and a pleasant place to people watch, and maybe to have a drink.
