Shiny, new books!

When I’m back in the US (or any English-speaking country), I’m always excited to go book shopping.

My short trip to America this summer was no exception.

Shopping in my depressingly closed-down country was tough, but I still managed.

I did find some books I’m interested in reading now that I’m back home.

The only books I had heard of earlier are Ohio and Beach Read, both novels I was curious to read.

The others I picked up in the bookstores I visited, and I look forward to cracking these spines open.

I’m a bit behind on newly released novels, so very open to your recommendations.

Happy reading to all!

I also always take the opportunity when I am in London to visit English book stores, so much more choice than back home!

Agree! Love UK bookstores. I have even *ahem* been know to be running last minute to a flight because I’ve dwindled too long in a (much smaller, but still well-stocked) Heathrow bookstore… : )

The first thing on the schedule once I get off the Eurostar at St Pancras is visiting the Hatchards at the station. 🙂

Lucky you – I’ll be there with you vicariously! : )

Have you read “This is Happiness” by Niall Williams? He’s a really good contemporary Irish author, this time writing about a rural Irish village when the team come to town to install electricity for the first time (1950s). Beautiful writing and one I’m recommending to everybody.

Nice, Grace! This sounds like exactly the type of book I’d love, and I hadn’t heard of it before. Thanks for the tip! Looking forward to it.
