Let it snow … in Abruzzo

In mid-December, I had to run out to Abruzzo for some errands.

I was out in the town of Ovindoli only for the day – and what an unseasonably warm day it was! There was at least a little bit of snow on the ground, but not that much for December.

The ski slopes had received only a dusting of snow. It was hoped that snowfall could serve as a base, but the warm temperatures were threatening the existence of that base that would have allowed the slopes to open.

As a visitor, I must admit that the mountain air, crystal clear blue skies and warming sun mingled together in a winning combination.

Nevertheless, I’m counting on returning to those slopes for a few days of skiing during the holidays, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the snow fairies will work their magic over the next few days.

In Abruzzo, let it snow!
