Avoid regrets in life – write!

“If I don’t write I feel, well, a kind of remorse, no?”

—Jorge Luis Borges

I love these wise words by Argentine poet Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986).

And if there are any fighting words to pull a writer back from the abyss of endless procrastination and back on the path of productive writing, these seem to fit the bill pretty well.

After all, writers write because they have stories inside them itching to get out. Those stories, characters and settings will continue to swirl around in a writer’s mind until he or she commits them to the page.

So why not take the talented Borges at his word and avoid feelings of remorse later in life? Happy writing to all!

Good on you! Sometimes I am not inspired in writing, but then this passes, thankfully!!!
I like Borges, I am from Argentina too! 🙂

Glad to hear any lack of writing inspiration passes quickly for you. Love the take of your countryman – next time I have trouble kicking myself into action, I’ll remember Borges’ words. : )

So agree with him and you. The hardest part is not the story per se, but to find the way to tell it. At least for me.

Too true, Evelyne. But I love this straight-forward way of just telling us to get to it, or we’ll regret it. Sometimes I need this type of gentle-yet-
      firm nudge!
