What are your 2016 writing resolutions?

2016_January_2016This has become a bit of a tradition for me – perhaps I’ve figured out a way how to hold myself accountable for my writing schedule.

Each year, I set myself writing goals … and up until now I’ve pretty much stuck to schedule. Let’s see if I can keep this up for 2016…

Of course, in 2016 I’d like to keep on blogging. I’m going into my 4th year and I enjoy blogging weekly on writing and traveling, so I plan to keep up on my two-posts-a-week schedule in this new year.

In 2015 my goal was to finish writing and editing my contemporary, multi-narrator story set in Rome: Three Coins. And I did it!

In 2016, I want to go back to finalize editing (ugh! always my sore point) of my contemporary/19th century time travel novel Dark Blue Waves.

I also want to complete the writing for a dual story line contemporary/turn of the 19th-20th century novel I’m working on now, which is set in Rome. I’m at the early stages, so I still have lots of ideas floating around, but I can feel the story starting to fall into place. Hoping I can continue with those rhythms to complete it this year.

And of course, I’ll continue writing short stories. I’m also trying my hand (with varied success) with flash fiction. I may be too verbose for the form, but I’m certainly having lots of fun giving it a try.

So, fellow writers and readers, those are my writing resolutions for 2016. And yours? Whether you are resolution writers or not, a very happy writing year to us all in 2016!

This is fabulous! I can’t wait to read your books when they are out 🙂 Esp Three Coins. Never asked you this but do you live in Rome? I wish I was coming there.

Thanks, Ishita! As a fellow Italophile, I hope you would like it. Yes, I live in Rome, although my first two years living in Italy were up in Milan. Hope to catch up with you on one of your trips through Italy when you’re in bella Roma…

Good luck with your writing plans, Kimberly. Glad to see Dark Blues Wave is on the list. My main project is the revision and submission of my children’s adventure book – Red Sails, along with my blog, column, short fiction etc.

Haha. Yes, it’s been in the proverbial drawer a long time. Ooh, a children’s adventure book! Look forward to seeing that. Wishing you a wonderful writing year, Grace!
