Goodreads Challenge: Another great year of books

Goodreads Challenge 2015Taking this opportunity to wish those of you who celebrate Christmas a Very Merry Christmas!

I always love to have books under the Christmas tree, and in these lazy days around the holiday, I often find myself content and curled up with a good book… with my family members curled up nearby with their own.  So it’s nice to look back to the year in reading – and to look ahead to 2016.

I’ve been doing the Goodreads challenge for a few years now. And yes, I completed my challenge for 2015. Along the way, I wrote some reviews for books I enjoyed on these pages. See my earlier posts with book recommendations of books I read this year herehere, here and here.

I know some people criticize the Goodreads challenge as silly, but I’ve always been a list person and have kept books of books I’ve read. I love to look back and remember what I read when – and I often have distinct memories of where I was and how I was feeling when I read a particular book. This is why I try to pair books with locales I’m visiting.

The feature I miss is how Goodreads used to provide to you the number of pages you read each year. Always a nice pat yourself on the back kind of feature. Where did it go?

Looking forward to taking the 2016 challenge.

Taking this opportunity to wish you all a very happy new reading year in 2016!!
